SVTRC has had a busy, but productive end to the summer! We've added two new students, and will be welcoming a third in the coming weeks, hosted our annual horse show, and have been a part of quite a few community programs!
Our Horse Show as held on September 10th and was judged by our very own Lorna Young! We had a fabulous turnout and are very thankful for the support of our volunteers, families of participants and for our Brookside Family! A small raffle was held, which brought in some extra funds to help cover program expenses, and lots of fun was had by all! We also recently held two Yoga on Horseback sessions, which were enjoyed by all participants who attended. We all really enjoyed the benefit of the yoga practice with our horses, and making that connection with another being while finding our 'edge'. SVTRC looks forward to hosting more Yoga on Horseback sessions in the future! SVTRC is very fortunate to have the support of so many community members. Amber had the pleasure of speaking to the Brattleboro Sunrise Rotary with board member Meredith Kenyon a few weeks back, and more recently spoke to the Brattleboro Rotary club that meets during the lunch hour. We enjoy spreading the word of what we do with other organizations! SVTRC was the beneficiary of two recent charitable events in August. We were the recipient of Fireworks Restaurant's Community Giving Night, and the Brattleboro Food Co-op's Bag-A-Bean program! SVTRC is so appreciative of the generosity of others to help keep our program going! SVTRC will also be partnering with the Brattleboro Sunrise Rotary in November for their monthly Trivia Night! That event will take place on November 14th at the American Legion in Brattleboro. See our Facebook Event for more details about Trivia Night! We have more fun in the works for the coming months, so be on the lookout for upcoming events!

Things have been very busy for SVTRC these last few weeks, but that hasn't stopped us from getting out in the community for different events! On Memorial Day, we were able to join Brookside Stables in the annual Wilmington Memorial Day Parade! Our participants had a TON of fun and we look forward to partnering with Brookside for more events like this in the future! Thank you to Brookside for including us, and thank you to the SVTRC families that participated! This past weekend, we had a small (but mightly!) presence in the Strolling of the Heifers Parade in Brattleboro! Special thanks to Jerilyn and Tabitha for bringing their horses and to Wren and Emalie for marching in the parade! Brookside Stables held their annual Tack Sale this weekend! While the weather was not super cooperative, SVTRC was able to make a little money, selling some of our unused/unneeded items! We are very thankful for the opportunities to reach out to the community, to promote our program and upcoming events and make a little extra cash to keep programming going!
Special thanks goes out to many people who helped make this weekend a success for SVTRC! Thank you to Ann Brown and Brookside Stables for hosting the event and allowing us to have a booth! We also need to thank Peggy Russell and Liz York, and many other Brookside Family members for helping Amber with pricing of donated items and other miscellaneous things throughout the day! Thank you to Siobhan and Wren Young and Ellie Longo who volunteered their time throughout the sale to give Amber a hand! Thank you to Jerilyn Jacobs and Kate Bunnell who donated items to SVTRC to sell! Every little bit helps and we appreciate your support! Finally, thank you to anyone who bought items from SVTRC this weekend- your purchases provide a little extra income to help support the program! We made just over $150 during the two days. Thank You! This week is National Volunteer Week! We are so fortunate to have many dedicated, and caring community members that donate their valuable time to our organization. Each year, volunteers dedicate thousands of hours of their time to help us grow and flourish! From helping to coordinate fundraisers, to serving on our Board, to volunteering for therapeutic riding and horsemanship lessons, our volunteers are the gears that help SVTRC tick and we certainly owe much of our success to them!
Thank you, SVTRC volunteers and supporters, for everything you do, the time you put in, the love that you show, and your steadfast belief in our program and the individuals we (YOU) impact. We appreciate and are grateful for all that you do- please make sure to pick up a small token of our appreciation during your next visit to the barn (both Winchester and Brookside). Thank You! We are excited to team up with Miracles in Motion of Keene, NH for the second annual Dancin' in the Barn!
There will be games, good food, good music, dancing and horses! The event starts at 3:00pm with games and more, and the Shana Stack Band will be playing from 4:00pm to 8:00pm! Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 6-12 and children 5 and under are free! We will continue to post more information about the event right here! Thank you very much to all of our supporters and participants that sold pizza this year! This has been our most successful pizza sale yet, and we made over $800! Special thank you the Lackey family, who alone sold $980 worth of pizza! I am looking forward to having delicious pizza waiting for me in my freezer!
Please make sure to stop in to the barn to pick up your order tomorrow at roughly 11:30am- unless you have prior arrangements made with Amber or Siobhan. Thank you again, every little bit helps and this has been a very successful fundraiser! Our Annual Pizza Sale is here again! These pizzas are delicious and made with mostly local and organic ingredients! The sale will run until January 15th- at which time all orders are due (please collect money ahead of time with orders). Pick up will be January 22nd; just in time for NFL play off games that weekend, and the Superbowl just two weeks later!
These pizzas and cookie dough freeze very well, so you can pop them in the freezer and enjoy later! If you're not a football fan, these pizzas and cookie dough make the perfect treat after a long day on the snow (if we ever get any snow!). There are 5, 16" large pizza choices- Cheese, Pepperoni, Basil Pesto, Asiago Almond Pesto and Sun-dried Tomato Pesto; as well as 3, 15" 3-pizza party packs- Cheese, Basil Pesto and Gluten-free Cheese. They also offer three types of cookie dough- Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin and Maple Sugar; and $20 gift certificates!
